The City of Palma continues to maintain the ban on roof-top pools in the historic center and the Es Jonquet neighborhood, which has been in place since the end of 2019, reports the daily Ultima Hora.
Councilwoman Neus Truyol justifies the ban, on the one hand, as an environmental protection measure: more pools also mean more water consumption. For another, utility costs for tenants and buyers in apartment buildings increase significantly if the property includes a pool.
In recent years, there has been a sharp increase in the number of applications for roof-top pool permits in Palma.
