Every year in October, the Mallorca Marathon takes place, which is one of the most popular sporting events of the year for runners around the world. Almost 10,000 runners go to the start and run either 42.195 kilometers (marathon), 21 kilometers (half marathon) or 10 kilometers through Mallorca. The Palma Marathon has been held since 2004. In 2020 it was suspended due to the pandemic, on October 10, 2021 the Mallorca Marathon took place for the 17th time and in 2022 it is expected to take place from October 07 to October 09.

The program of the Palma Marathon 2021 and 2022

On Friday, 08 October 2021, the event started at 10 am with the Breakfast Run. Traditionally on all three days visitors can visit the Marathon Expo. Friday as well as Saturday the Mallorca Marathon participants will receive their starting documents. On Saturday, October 09, the Palma Kids Run took place at the Mallorca Marathon 2021 and everyone had the opportunity to recharge their batteries again at the Pasta Party from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. before the starting signal for the Mallorca Marathon 2021 was given on Sunday, October 10. At intervals of 15 minutes started from 8 o'clock the marathon, at 8.15 the Mallorca Half Marathon 2021 and at 8.45 o'clock the 10-kilometer run. From 11.30 am there are usually the award ceremonies of the 10-kilometer run and the Mallorca Half Marathon and at 12 noon those of the marathon. At 14 o'clock is the finish of the marathon in Mallorca.

The route of the Mallorca Marathon

Probably no other course offers such a unique setting as the Zafiro Palma Marathon. Start and finish are at the Parc de la Mar, which is located directly below the cathedral. The run first leads along the beautiful promenade to the harbor to the coast and then meanders in the middle of the old town through the small Mallorcan alleys past almost all the sights that the island capital proudly presents.
