The Balearic Government has clarified this week that the journey from Palma to Sóller remains free. Previously, the Supreme Court had ruled in favor of the former concessionaire in the Sóller tunnel trial. The abolition of the toll by the government in June 2017 had not been justified. As the contract was originally dated until June 2023, rumors subsequently arose that the concessionaire was now entitled to a new concession for six years.
According to the Balearic government, the tunnel operator is to be compensated accordingly. The government already paid 16 million euros in 2017, and the same sum is being discussed again.
