With the first mild rays of spring, a pink and white carpet of flowers covers Mallorca: the almond trees are in bloom.
Especially in the center of the island, but also on the country roads towards Sóller and Puerto de Andratx, there are many heralds of spring to marvel at.
Did you know that wine used to grow where thousands of almond trees bloom today? Mallorca was one of the most important wine producers in Europe. But with phylloxera, which killed almost all vineyards in Europe in the 19th century, the island had to rethink its approach. A new product was needed and almond trees were planted. Today, local almonds are mainly found in Christmas specialties. The Mallorcan almond may not be as big as its overseas competitors, but it is much tastier. Give it a try! For example with the traditional Gató Mallorquin, the almond cake.
Our Neptunus tips for a walk for the senses:
PUERTO DE ANDRATX
It is only a few steps from the fashionable harbor out into the countryside. The walk leads over the Coll den Boix in the direction of Andratx. Crossing the country road, you return to the harbor on the opposite side. Optionally, the tour can be extended to the village of Andratx.

BUNYOLA
There are numerous almond trees to admire around the Raixa estate. Opposite the entrance to Bunyola (country road towards Sóller), a flat path begins that invites you to take a walk. It leads directly to the estate, which can also be visited.
