MICE is the English acronym for the words Meetings, Incentives, Conferencing and Exhibitions. The term encompasses business meetings, trade fairs, exhibitions, congresses, and all activities that involve travelling for professional purposes.
Why select Mallorca for your MICE event?
With its natural surroundings, rich culture and traditions, Mallorca is the perfect destination to organise your MICE event and combine work and leisure. Along with an excellent MICE sector proposal, the island’s pleasant climate and unbeatable environment are the perfect conditions to organise national and international events, as visitors benefit from a qualitative complementary offer with great options such as active tourism, gastronomy, shopping and wellness.
Connectivity:
The airport of Palma de Mallorca (PMI) boasts one of the best air connectivity in the whole Mediterranean region and most European capitals are less than 3 hours away by plane.
Offer:
Mallorca has a broad spectrum of scholarly MICE professionals with considerable experience in organizing events. The Island MICE sector professionals are well trained and have the “know how” to control all aspects of the event, guaranteeing performance and success.
Infrastructures:
Mallorca proposes a great diversity of facilities for MICE clients. The choice of a venue will be based on the volume of users and the specialisation of the event. Among the many facilities on the island, the Palau de Congresos de Palma stands as a landmark in the Balearic capital. Designed by the Navarrese architect Francisco Mangado, its architecture integrates well into space, as it was inspired by Palma ‘s bay and sea waves, sunlight, and fine white sand.
Facing south, in an exceptional location overlooking the Bay of Palma, with 4 floors and a capacity for more than 2,000 people, this congress-hall is the ideal place for large conferences and conventions. The ever-growing demand for event and congress facilities resulted in this imposing edifice built with noble materials such as, Padauk wood, granite, marés-stone, and aluminium, which make it a sustainable building. The façade of the building features architectural panels made by injecting air into molten aluminium, which contains a fine dispersion of ceramic particles. There are 2 auditoriums with unbeatable acoustics, designed by HIGINI ARAU, an international expert in the field of acoustic architecture.
Another popular venue in Palma is its large Auditorium, located in the bay of Palma, on the seafront promenade and surrounded by excellent hotels. This famous arts and congress centre was built in 1969 and houses nine halls, two of which - the Sala Magna and Sala Mozart - are theatre-like structures equipped with optimum visibility and sound technologies, for great artistic performances as well as conventions and congresses.
Mallorca disposes of many other auditoriums and theatre venues, as well as fairgrounds, convention centres, multifunctional halls, and other unique spaces for a multitude of event options. Today, many hotels also specialise in the MICE sector, proposing multi-purpose facilities. In addition, many historical edifices such as old possessions (rural estates), sanctuaries, palaces, fortresses, and monasteries, also propose venues and services for events.
Accommodations:
Mallorca has an extensive and varied accommodation offer managed by unquestionably experienced staff, and so, finding the most suitable accommodation, whether in large hotels, small luxury hotels, boutique-hotels or agrotourist hotels, is a tough choice.
Climate:
The Mediterranean climate is delightful with more than 300 days of sunshine per year, warm summers and mild winters. Spring and autumn are seasons with very pleasant temperatures, ranging from 18-22ºc, on average.
Distances:
Distances from one region to another are relatively short on the island. Measuring around 100 km from end to end, Mallorca is well communicated thanks to its well-maintained road network, making it easy to drive from one place to another. The “Icing on the cake” whilst driving from one area to another, is the beautiful and varied landscape that makes Mallorca a place where it is possible to combine work and leisure, sometimes even on the same day.
Complementary activities:
In Mallorca, combining work responsibilities with leisure and sports, in the heart of nature, is not just a privilege, but a tangible reality. Natural parks, the Serra de Tramontana (declared a World Heritage Site by UNESCO), superb beaches with crystal clear waters or historical towns and villages, offer ideal settings for leisure. There are many companies on the island which specialise in the organisation of complementary activities, making it possible to combine working days with fun activities.
Sports:
Mallorca is an ideal place for sports, with fantastic cycling and hiking routes through the Serra de Tramontana, horse riding tours, water sports, and even golf on its 24 golf courses.
Gastronomy:
Today, Mallorca’s restaurants propose either traditional or international gastronomy, usually based on local and seasonal products, certain combine it with a more “avant-gardist” cuisine. Mallorca’s best dishes can be enjoyed in traditional cellars and in more exclusive restaurants, some even possess Michelin stars. Mallorca is also renowned for its “vino” and many wineries propose organically produced wine, with the possibility to visit their vineyards and cellars, and sampling their delicious produce. Olive oil tastings, such as those proposed by the "Son Morangues" organic farm on the outskirts of the village of Valldemossa, are also a fun and "delicious" activity, whilst on the island.
Wellness:
Mallorca is a spa getaway of choice for weary travellers who head to the Island for working purposes, such as attending a MICE event. Remote mountain hideaways, tranquil beach resorts and chic city hotels include world-class spas, where guests can soothe stressed bodies and minds, as well as enjoy fine dining, relaxing pool days and Mallorca’s idyllic views.
Our selection of fine reputed spas would include the “LLorenç de la Mar Spa” in the historic centre of Palma “La Calatrava”, “Bikini Island and Mountain Hotel” in Port de Sóller, “Carrossa Hotel & Spa Villas” in Artà, or “Iberostar Selection Llaut” in Palma bay. The city centre is home to many museums and exhibition centres, art galleries and theatres, promoting a varied and dynamic cultural offer.
Palma also boasts a range of high-quality shops and boutiques of international brands, small shops specialising in insular products and traditional crafts such as for example, Mallorca Pearls jewellery, ancestral Mallorquin free-stitch embroidery, or Guardiola’s blown glass artistry.
