Mallorca's 550-kilometer coastline has many faces: cliffs, small coves and miles of sandy beaches. The guarded beaches are usually equipped with changing rooms, showers as well as amenities such as lockable storage boxes. Dogs are not allowed on most beaches. The four-legged friends refresh themselves in natural coves or on designated dog beaches, for example, outside Palma and Pollensa.

Mallorca beaches on the west coast

The west coast from Andratx to Pollensa is rough, unspoiled and dominated by the Tramuntana mountains. Here, steep cliffs drop almost vertically into turquoise blue water and only a few small bays invite you to swim.

Port Sóller has the longest beach on the west coast. The supervised sandy beach is beautifully situated against the backdrop of the highest peaks, the harbor protects against waves and the promenade with numerous restaurants invites you to stroll and stop for a bite to eat. The popular streetcar, which connects Port Sóller with Sóller, stops directly at the marina and the local beach. A stop is the restaurant "Agapanto" at the end of the beach in the direction of the lighthouse. Here only fresh produce from their own garden, homemade bread and organic ingredients are served.

Small, unsupervised beaches can also be found in the small towns of Estellencs, Banyalbufar, Deià and Port Canonge. Here it is rustic, the ground is rocky, the sea all the bluer for it. Snorkelers get their money's worth at the bays.

A tourist highlight on the west coast is the Torrent de Parais. Between Soller and Lluc, the well-known serpentine road Sa Calobra leads down to the less visited Cala Tuent as well as the well-known beach of Torrent de Parais. The narrow beach impresses with its unique landscape. A narrow dry river course cut deep into the mountains (a torrent in winter) reaches the sea and forms a small beach here. In summer, live concerts are held in this narrow valley.

Mallorca beaches in the north

The north is an Eldorado for water sports enthusiasts and beach lovers. The two long bays of Pollensa and Alcudia merge almost seamlessly into each other and offer the finest sandy beach for 50 kilometers. Families love the beaches in the north, because here you can walk forever into the water. With the wind blowing almost constantly in the north, kite surfers, boarders and surfers get their money's worth.

Mallorca beaches on the east coast

The east coast from Cala Ratjada to Santanyi is characterized in the northern part by long sandy beaches, in the southern section by small sandy coves that cut into the hilly coastal landscape.

The most beautiful sandy beach of the east coast is located in Cala Ratjada as well as in the neighboring village Cala Mezquida. Cala Agulla is the main beach of the tourist resort and correspondingly crowded in the high season. High sand dunes and Caribbean water can be found in Cala Mezquida, which is connected to Cala Agulla by a beautiful hiking trail.

In the southern part of the east coast, several bays, some of which are nature reserves, are especially inviting for snorkeling. Here the sandstone coast falls gently into the sea and forms impressive caves. Especially the calas around Santanyi like Cala Mondrago are worth a visit.

Mallorca beaches on the south coast

In the south lies the most beautiful beach on the island: the kilometer-long sandy beach Es Trenc. It is often compared with beaches of the Caribbean, which is mainly due to the turquoise blue water. Es Trenc is an (almost) unspoiled natural beach with dunes in the hinterland. In winter, the beach is in dream for long walks.

Playa de Palma is also ideal for cycling, walking and swimming. The kilometer-long promenade from Arenal to Palma has many faces: tourist hotspots, small fishing ports and elegant suburbs. All are connected by a cycle and footpath and lead to the chic port of Palma.

A stop along the Playa de Palma is the MOLA restaurant in Can Pastilla, very close to the Palma Aquarium. Small portions to share, a changing menu, and Asian-inspired specialties taste great with an excellent wine selection. The delicious bread here also comes straight from the restaurant's own oven.

Mallorca Beaches Southwest

Chic beach clubs and luxurious marinas characterize the southwest coast, which is particularly popular with foreign property buyers. Between Illetas and Port Andratx, mountainous hinterland meets small bays and some longer sandy beaches in the tourist resorts.

A particularly beautiful bay can be found in Portals Vells, also called Magician's or Three Finger Bay. The 3 neighboring sandy bays jut out into the sea like fingers, in summer yachts pool in the breathtaking turquoise and pine trees provide shade. In the immediate vicinity is the popular Cala Falcó, a small bay that has a very special charm with its quaint beach bar.

Small, unspoiled and protected by the island of Dragonera, Sant Elm presents itself. The charming coastal village with its excellent seafood restaurants directly on the sea has a beautiful sandy beach that gently leads into the light blue sea. Kayak tours and dives along this breathtaking stretch of coast are popular, as are excursions to the uninhabited nature reserve island of Dragonera.

The best place to enjoy a sundowner is on the promenade of fashionable Port Andratx. Here stars, starlets and everyone meet in Tim's Bar & Co.

As diverse as the landscape of Mallorca is, so is the coastline and everyone will find the perfect beach.
