Tourists flush money into island coffers

One in three euros spent by holidaymakers in Spain in July ended up in the tills on the Balearic Islands. This is where the most money was spent in Spain.

International tourists have spent the most money in Spain this summer on the Balearic Islands. This is according to current data from the market research institute Egatur.

In July alone, vacationers left more than 1.6 billion euros on the islands, which represents more than 31 percent nationwide of all income from this sector or, in other words, one out of every three euros spent by tourists to Spain in July on the Balearic Islands. This is over 155 percent more than in July 2020.

However, in July 2019, more than 2.8 billion euros came to the islands from vacationers' coffers.
