Easter in Mallorca - This is traditionally eerie processions, people in pointed hoods parading through Palma or reenacting the Passion of Christ on the steps in Pollensa. But unfortunately, this year there will be no processions again. The pandemic does not allow a large gathering of people.
Nevertheless, some events and even performances and church services are held in Mallorca during Easter.
WORSHIP SERVICES
Services are held both in the Cathedral of Palma and in other parishes. Highlights are the festivities in the Cathedral:
Holy Thursday, April 1: 6 p.m. Misa del Sant Sopar del Senyor (Holy Communion). At 9:30 pm arrival of the procession Sant Crist de la Sang (only participants allowed).
Good Friday, April 2: 6 pm, scenic representation of the Passion of Christ in front of the Cathedral and procession.
Saturday, April 3: 7 p.m., Vigilia Pasqual (vigil).
Easter Sunday, April 4: 10:15 a.m., traditional Easter Mass.
EXHIBITIONS
Museums and galleries are also open in Mallorca at Easter.
Among others, the Fundación Juan March in Palma, Museu Palau March and the Museum of Contemporary Art Es Baluard are waiting for art lovers.
SYMPHONY CONCERT
The traditional Easter concert of the Symphony Orchestra of the Balearic Islands in the Cathedral of Palma will take place this year, unfortunately, without visitors.
It will be broadcast live on the channel IB3 (Saturday 18h).
EASTER MENU
Numerous restaurants in Mallorca offer an Easter menu for the holidays. You should make a reservation in advance, because the few places are booked up quickly.
The restaurants are open until 5 pm. A maximum of 4 guests are allowed to sit at a table and may only be served outdoors.
